Education

Education has over the years been highly acknowledged for its vital role in the human society. Many scholars and personalities have demonstrated the worth of education in the various sectors of human society including economics, culture, religion, and politics. Both developed and developing nations have shown a high regard on the worth of education, thus investing numerous societies. The 20th and 21st centuries have been outstanding in the numerous developments and revolutions in education. This has been evident in the sophisticated methodologies and structures set up for facilitating education. Technology on the other hand has also been highly incorporated in the education system thus making it more worthwhile. Despite these developments in education, optimum efficiency in the education system has not been realized thus calling for increased commitment from the different stakeholders. As a result, the role of the community engagement in schools has received significant attention in recent days. This phenomenon has drawn substantial attention concerning its influence in success and efficiency in the education system. This research paper will provide an in-depth analysis and discussion on community engagement in school.

According to Gelsthorpe and West-Burnham (2003), community engagement is the involvement of community members in school planning, decision making, communication, activities, visioning among other school related activities. The concept has been in place for quite some time, whereby various communities have adequately adopted it. Both developed and developing nations have shown an increased adoption of community engagement in school affairs. From another perspective, community engagement is also referred to as community involvement, collaboration or public engagement. All the concepts have the same or similar meaning in that they entail the engagement of the entire community or public in the running of the school (Gelsthorpe and West-Burnham, 2003).

Chadwick (2004) postulated that the concept of community engagement in school emerged following the speculation that children whose communities have engaged in schooling have a richer and diversified educational experience. This is not a new phenomenon, whereby it has been in place since the late 20th century. With reference to the high demand for quality in provision of education, there has been every need to devise the best strategies. In this case, community engagement has been one of the strategies for enhancing success and efficiency in the education system. With this in mind, the concept has gained momentum over the last century and diffused to all corners of the globe. Presently, the concept of community engagement is adopted in nearly all education systems both in developing and developed nations (Chadwick, 2004).

As noted by Hughes-hassell and Wheelock (2001), the scope of community engagement goes beyond the parents and their children. Hughes-hassell and Wheelock (2001) indicated that the business community around a school is also part of the school community and has to be included. Despite that the companies or the business communities living around the school do not have children; they have key interests in the welfare of the school. Their contribution is also vital in the success of the school, thus the need for their involvement. It is worth noting that the administrators of any school have a key role in deciding who to include or exclude from the school affair. This is based on the fact that not all community members have good interests in the school.

Background

The concept of community engagement in school has been influenced by a wide number of factors. To begin with, the issues of industrialization, advancement in technology as well as globalization have led to a high sense on the quality standards in education. Through globalization, parents and other interested parties to a school are able to open their reasoning in the gap in quality standards. This has been closely associated with comparisons on the education systems among various countries, where in this case developing nations have key interests on the education systems of developed countries. As a result, the issue of community engagement has come into place, whereby it seeks to bridge the knowledge in the running of the schools as well as policy making (Gelsthorpe and West-Burnham, 2003).

In relation to the increased expectations and workloads of school administrators in recent days, there is every need to incorporate the community. This is aimed at reducing the workload of the school administrators and thus enhances efficiency. School administrators in recent days are spread thin. This has made them to be inefficient thus leading to low quality education as well as failure of meeting the objectives of education. Based on this scenario, the quality of education has been compromised. With increased demand of education, the school resources and management has been put under high pressure. The issues of management in the school institutions have been a serious problem, with reference to the limited administrators. Most of the human personnel in the school have not been able to deliver services to the optimum. Hughes-hassell and Wheelock (2001) noted that the high demand of education has been the main cause of these problems.

On the other hand, discipline of students as well as school relations have also been a problem. In reference to this phenomenon, the school administrators are required to seek assistance from the community. Gelsthorpe and West-Burnham (2003) noted that the management of school funds as well as policy making has also been a vital problem. This is in relation to the high expectations on better quality education as well as financial efficiency in the running of the school. In light to this phenomenon, there has been a human resource gap in the running of the schools thus calling for community participation.

Benefits

Many researchers and scholars in the field of education have shown a strong correlation between community engagement and the success of a school. To begin with community engagement has helped in reducing the high workload of school administrators. Over the last 2 to 3 decades, there has been a very high expectation from school administrators and the entire school system. Based on this phenomenon, community engagement helps in reducing the workload of administrators thus enhancing their efficiency. The role of parents in school activities has been of great help in reducing the pressure on the administrators. This helps in enhancement of efficiency thus leading to quality improvement (Gelsthorpe and West-Burnham, 2003).

The burden overlying school administrators is lifted through community involvement. As indicated by Hughes-hassell and Wheelock (2001), community engagement enhances role sharing thus reducing the tasks played by the different personnel. In addition the scenario of administrators being spread in a spread thin is also overcome by community engagement. From this scenario, community learns on how to take the lead thus helping the administrators in undertaking their roles. The energy and time of community to a school is a vital resource to the success of the school. Hughes-hassell and Wheelock (2001) stipulated that the input of community to school can not be taken for granted. By sharing roles, specialization is achieved thus helping in attaining efficiency and increase in output and quality.

Educational Technology Should Assist Teachers

The role of a teacher in a person’s life is very important and many important people have spoken very positively about the influence and impact that a good teacher had on their development. There is no doubt that a teacher who can use their charm and personality to bring lessons to life will be well remembered by pupils and can hopefully make the learning process more enjoyable. Of course, some teachers prefer to have a strict disciplinary code in the classroom and can be said to rule the room with an iron fist.

This process works for many pupils and teachers and is something that can also help a pupil to make the most of their time at school. There is no doubt that a good teacher can make all the difference in school but regardless of the quality of the teacher, they should always be open to new ideas and assistance.

Introducing new technology into the classroom should always be to assist the teacher and to make their life easier but it is easy to see why some teachers may feel as though their position is being threatened. After all, if a teacher has taught pupils for a number of years without any problems or difficulties, they will likely feel that the new product is an intrusion or comment on their teaching methods.

This is certainly not the case but all teachers should be aware that there are many ways which they can provide a better service to their pupils. Although the teacher may be providing a lesson plan that is tried and tested throughout the years, today’s generation of children are very different from the children from previous generations.

Modern children are very comfortable with TVs and computers and it is natural that they may turn off slightly at the prospect of learning in a traditional manner. This is where a good teacher would be able to react to their pupils and update their teaching methods. There are many great educational technology products which should help any teacher grab the attention of a child and retain throughout the day or particular class.

Teachers should have nothing to fear about the introduction of educational technology into the classroom and given time, they may believe that these new products are able to offer great assistance in the classroom. Anything which keeps children entertained during the learning process should be considered a very positive thing and something that teachers can use to their advantage when delivering a strong lesson plan.

Educational technology is not there to replace teachers; it is now being used as a valuable teaching aid with plenty of technology in the classroom that now allows teachers to engage with the material they are teaching in a new and unique way.

This is the first in a series of articles focusing on video conferencing and education. Part 1: The Teaching Predicament primarily focuses on the dilemma that educational institutes around the world have been facing in terms of teaching.

Over the recent years, visual communication as an effective tool to enhance delivery of education has gained a lot of traction. Educational institutes are constantly faced with the challenge of maintaining consistency and quality of teaching over geographically dispersed branches. For instance, will a student enrolled in an undergraduate business studies program at a top tier American university experience the same teaching quality in the Middle East or Europe? The answer to this question will most likely be ‘not quite’.

Although there are a number of variables at play here but the most fundamental challenge is access to the same quality of instructors across geographical regions. Geographical regions can typify different branches in the same city, across cities, countries and continents. Maintaining teaching standards across continents is even a bigger challenge given the social, cultural and ethnic divides.

A traditional approach to somewhat alleviate the problem is to fly in faculty periodically to conduct workshops. However, this can prove to be very costly and cumbersome. Technology has an answer for this common and age-old problem. Although video conferencing solutions have been around since the 1980s, they’ve never been so affordable and accessible as they are today.

Visual communication technology has advanced leaps and bounds making it highly immersive and interactive. More importantly, the bandwidth and the infrastructure that is required to support a truly interactive video conference is ever more affordable and ubiquitous now. This makes videoconferencing a viable and practical learning tool for the classroom. Truly interactive visual communication can add a level of teaching consistency across multiple institutes.

Full HD 1080p video, 360-degree audio combined with interactive whiteboards and multiple cameras provide the next best thing to being physically present in a classroom. Video conferencing technology has truly reinvented how teachers and students interaction. From sharing lecture notes and feedback to carrying out assignments and group work, a video conference setup in a classroom knows no geographical boundaries. The selection of video conferencing equipment however may appear to be daunting initially with the sheer amount of options available. I personally prefer Panasonic Video Conferencing.

Panasonic is a manufacturer of state-of-the-art Video Conferencing equipment. Their Visual Communication technology combines full 1080i video coupled with advanced compression algorithms connecting you with colleagues and experts around the world on standard broadband connections. 360° HD Full Duplex Audio with echo cancellation technology combined with stunning video provides a truly immersive and collaborative video conference.

Samuel Becker Writes for Panasonic Video Conferencing. Panasonic’s video conferencing equipment is exquisite! Designed with the end user in mind, Panasonic has created a suite of video conference components that anyone can operate with ease.

Uses of Technology in Education

Today, technology plays an important role in the way students learn and how the teachers send the information to students.

There have much technological advancement wherein it helped teachers to efficiently communicate with the students the lessons that they need to learn.

Here are some of the implementations of technology in the way students learn their lessons.

One common example of this is the use of videos in teaching children. In order for the teachers to illustrate the lessons more clearly, they use video materials so that students will be able to understand more easily the concepts that the teacher wants them to know.

Interactive whiteboards are also example of implementation of technology in the education system. This is either using a projector or computers to show to the students the screen of the teacher. The idea of this is to let students interact with the teachers while having a discussion.

PowerPoint presentations have also helped many educators in teaching their students.

PowerPoint is showing the lessons in a projector. This is very common among instructors who need illustrations so that they may be able to efficiently send the message to the students.

Based on researches, students learn faster if they do things and discover them on their own rather than just listening to what the teacher is saying. Due to this reason, it is now becoming more and more important for educators to find ways on how to make their lessons more interactive so that the students will be able to learn their lessons efficiently.

Technology is such an important thing in the educational system that without it, teachers will find it hard to teach their lessons especially those who need to show illustrations to students.

Technology also plays an important role on how students gain access to the information which is vital to their learning.

Importance of Technology in Education

It has been proven that communicating lessons to students is quite hard for educators this is why they resort to different devices that technology has to offer in order to aid them in teaching the lessons to their students.

Technology plays an important role in the development of students while they are still in school and studying. Different devices such as projectors, computers, televisions, and even sound systems are pretty much of a help when it comes to teaching these students.

Teachers can use computers in simulation such as in Chemistry, Biology, or different courses which requires illustrations of lessons in order for the students to understand more clearly the lessons that the teacher is discussing them.

According to some researches, students tend to be more active and more participative when technology is being integrated in their lesson resulting to better comprehension and good performance.

The children of today are now very much inclined when it comes to technology unlike the people of before wherein they got used to just learning with books and books alone.

The students today are very much lucky since they can now take full advantage of what technology has to offer. Like for example the internet wherein the student does not need to go to the library anymore to gather information about a topic since all he needs is a computer with internet access. There are hundreds or even thousands of related website from where he could choose from.

Today, with the help of technology students are able to learn more in an efficient way that is why there is no reason on why a student will fail on a particular subject – all the information that he needs is already within the reach of his hands.

The bottom line is that technology has played and still playing an important role in the field of education especially in the development and enhancement of the students.

Automation is in demand these days.

Technology, sense and Education
I ongoing to think regarding all this after a conversationw using a lonely of wealth who was decisive me of her struggle to get her son to read. You can discover more details here http://introductiontoliterature.com. It’s authentic that barely anybody, adults or children, makes time read these being. Of course people DO make time to babysit countless barren TV shows. I am chatting regarding TV programs that also show the nastiest part doable of being beings or that give people a completely distorted account of truth. If I watched the regional hearsay, I would never come out of my house. People from overseas have been knows to call me to restraint on me after earshot some terrible hearsay on their regional TV. What is the headland of that? I ask.

So yes, it is a disgrace that people don’t read greatly because I do trust that there are a lot fewer ordinary books than ordinary TV shows.

But herein we are, that’s the truth and there is no distrust that children retort a lot better to TV and IPods than a good old bunch of pages. remark that it might have to do using the truth that most parents who want quiet and calm at hometown have a bias to just sit their kids in front of the box from a very early age… You can’t fault the little darlings.

So let’s make the most of this state. Ultimately, why do we want kids to read? Just for the talent or for the please of what they read? gone a certain age, it has to be for the please. The actual talent should be drilled early on and if you have teenagers who can’t read, that’s another hindrance and not the subject of this piece.

A pair of being ago, I was given an IPod.

I had never sought one because I don’t snoop to melody greatly and I couldn’t picture myself walking around using my headset jamming to my songs. But then I was introduced around the same time to audio books. Wow! What a discovery! My IPod follows me everywhere. I barely ever babysit TV and when I am liability anything that doesn’t involve a high flat of concentration, like cooking, ironing, cleaning the house, logging out transmit, etc, I just put the IPod on and I just “read”. I mean I am listening truly, but as I am not equipped to make the time to actually sit and read. I just murder two birds using one pebble. I have “read” – by jumping on every opportunity to snoop to them – dozens of books in the last pair of being and have learnt so greatly! It has been the best education of my life. I have adult in behavior I didn’t think were doable.

Now I am constant that your kids have an MP3 player of some description. Have you musing regarding looking into audio books for them. Or cleanly some audio annals that they can have in their IPod and that they would snoop to. Have a mix of some melody and some educational fill. Do the same yourself: when you are pouring anywhere, let the undivided family snoop to your choice audio books, have a discussion regarding what is said. Get your kids into it from an early age.

The same applies to TV. Yes, there are a lot of unheard programs on TV in my belief, but there are also good ones, that actually give education. Some kids’ programs are very educational and then you have the Discovery conduit, the memoirs conduit, etc. Instead of quietening your kids using slavish cartoons, try a Discovery syllabus on sea life. Don’t get me damage, I do passion cartoons too, but not just any and not all the time. Some are better than others. But there has to be sort. Children, like all people, retort to what they are given. If you nourish them fieriness from an early age, they’ll like it because it will have become the norm for them and they will want more. If you nourish them education, instruction, education from an early age, they will want more of that.

Games consoles are the same. They have sport that involve some opinion and others that consist of shooting, or racing or pretending you are singing sport. If the withstand is good enough to go outdoor and you like soccer or football or baseball, go and horseplay it, do the heartfelt thing. If it is too cold or damp and you are mystified within, tool a doll that will school you anything, regarding finances for command or running your hope, or edifice a custom. There are sport like that.

Computer use also desires to be qualified to kids early. Mastering Microsoft agency is a must. Get them to write their journal on the mainframe for command, get them to horseplay around using PowerPoint when they have educate projects, show them Publisher, etc. All these are chief skills. The Internet is also a great find of good or bad and you have to tool and pick. There are a lot of interactive sites for kids that can be great. All the communities are good too if they are worn for a reasonable quantity of time per day. It is very cushy to get accepted elsewhere on the net and expend hours factually massacre time. But there are also a lot of clothes to be academic. even just the official aspects of with a mainframe. school your kids to be judicious on the net: for command, make constant they limited what movies they put in their profile and school them regarding the kind of idea they want to cast. They can also learn regarding advertising themselves or an upshot on one of those communities. It can school them regarding marketing at an early age.

Technology is stuffed of assets. It has to be worn prudently and kids have to be revealed – ASAP – the assenting, educational behavior they can use it so that they will ask for more. Don’t fault violent TV or sport, worthless TV shows etc for children’s need of fascinate in educate. Take your part of responsibility: you are the ones to conclude what your kids do or don’t. Then work using what you have got and use this great tool that we call technology to your lead.

In the Atlanta Independent School District they are changing their old ways and introducing a lot of educational technology into their classrooms. They not only are introducing new technology but they are really researching how to successfully incorporate this into the classrooms. They don’t want to just throw an ipad at a student and tell them to go on a certain application for the day, they really want teacher and student involvement to be key to making educational technology a success in their classrooms. They want students to engage more in the classrooms and teachers to help a lot more one on one with the students. The benefits of having educational technology devices such as iPads, iPod touches, eReaders or any other type of learning device is that teachers can spend more one on one time with the students. You would think it would be opposite, that by introducing a device that a student uses independently in the class would make them engage less, but by introducing the technology accompanied with the teachers knowledge of how to engage will make the Atlanta Independent School district successful.

With the devices, instead of teachers having to stand in the front of a classroom and lecture their students and have student’s participate once in a while, the educational technology brings the students to life.

The students are able to participate one hundred percent by learning hands on. Also the teachers can walk around the classroom and talk to the students one on one and help them a lot more. The teachers go through a training program that teaches them how to engage students with the education technology devices and how to make the learning fun. Its important for teachers to create a fun and safe learning environment so the students will want to learn and ask questions. In the teachers educational technology training they are taught how to keep the mobile learning safe. The devices that the schools purchase can be set to make sure only certain applications or websites are accessed to make sure the devices are only used for education. Also by teachers being able to freely walk around and help the students instead of lecturing in front of them, the teachers are able to monitor the students more closely and help them one on one.

It’s very important for schools that are starting to introduce educational technology into their classrooms that they have a training seminar for the teachers. Not only should they be trained ion the new device and become experts on it so they can help their students, but they need to learn how to make the technology integration a success in their classrooms. With the Atlanta Independent School District knowing this key information and helping their teachers become experts on technology integration and how to create a successful learning environment, they will have great success on improving the students test scores, grades and keeping their attention in class. Education technology is great and very beneficial to teacher and students, but it only works if you know how to successfully integrate it into your classrooms.

New systems offering quality patient education videos are now available to help dentists explain the ideal dental treatment to suit patients needs. Repeating explanations by you or your staff can result in fatigue and worse, inconsistent messages reaching the patients. If your staff is sick and tired of explaining what a root canal is and why you need to have a crown done to finish the procedure, then, at least some of the time the message is not going to get through to the patient.

Multimedia websites are a combination or integration of text, graphics, images, video and sound. The introduction of multimedia technology has made it possible to introduce a number of services on the internet including online healthcare services or medical portals. The online medical portals are a great source of medical advice from expert physicians on video. They have come a long way in physician – patient education; they not only provide information to the patients but also are a valuable source of information to the physicians.

Math faculty members have found that instruction through technology has not been easy. Although on-line learning is more flexible and allows students additional opportunities for reflection, it hasn’t proven friendly to instructors. Math instructors have found that these distance learning tools give students more opportunities to get involved. As a group, students solve math problems. Students are given a single step to complete and explain the process used. Then, another student proceeds with the next step and so on. Another way to deal with the technical issues is to use your students as the experts. As you troubleshoot an issue with a student, talk out loud and explain what you are doing.

As someone who has once successfully underwent a cosmetic surgery procedure, be it invasive or not, feeling bonded to the cosmetic surgeon is important. If you managed to build rapport with the patient, then it’s absolutely imperative to maintain that relationship and go beyond it. This is not the time to spend your money on a new advertising campaign. Attracting new leads to your practice might not be the best solution. You will need a very well focused campaign to bring only the qualified prospects. So, it’s the moment to concentrate on those who already know you since they are more apt to respond to your promotional efforts.

Many medical treatments could not be diagnosed without the vital ability to view the inside of a patient. The use of technology and medical knowledge required to perform this function requires a formal education. Receiving an education is possible by entering an online radiologic technology career school. Students can enter programs at the certificate, associates, bachelors, and master’s degree level. Many students pursue either an associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree. These two-degree levels are the most common sought after educational paths.

Science courses in anatomy, physiology, and chemistry give students a more comprehensive understanding of the medical field. Radiologic career schools online make the education process more centralized and focused.

When talking about virtualization, people will say that it is just the same as cloud computing, while actually there is a big difference between cloud virtualization. To be able to know what the big difference between those two things, of course you should know first what it means by cloud computing, especially if you are spending all your times in doing internet things. You should know what that is so that you will be able to know when there is problem happening that disturb your internet in the future. Besides, you will also be able to raise the level of the protection of your system, so that it will not be easily hacked by irresponsible people.

Cloud computing is actually a model for consumption and delivery that allow some certain organizations to get easy access for some applications, the deployment and the development of the platforms used, and of course either the physical or the virtual servers that is used as a service or perhaps also for a by-the-use model. In simple words, cloud computing is the system used for people to be able to access all the programs available in the internet easily and very quickly, without even being interrupted by everything during the process.

It does of course have the different meaning as the virtualization, because it does not have the same function as the cloud computing. The virtualization is thee system that is used in the cloud computing process, where the services of the computing process originate. And of course, it is not always required for people to use this kind of thing, unlike the cloud computing that is a must to do. That is why saying that thee virtualization is just having the same concepts as the cloud computing will give very wrong conception to the people.

Technology Effects on Education

Technology in education continues to evolve to date as there are several different options in deriving solutions to particular education related issues and concerns. Materials and tools are manipulated through various techniques which are able to teach students as well as educators on what technology is all about and how it plans to educate the today’s youth.

Educational institutes now come with different computer laboratories and other technological devices that may be used to make it easier for the student to understand what goes on around the environment and apply the use of these technological feats in education. Curricula, lessons and various other handouts also become readily available to the user.

Computer technology modernizes education in its implementation through objects, tools and imagery that make education more interactive for the students.

These interactivities shows the student that he or she can still be very participative in different fields of knowledge and since the learning is interactive, the students is more likely to enjoy the participation as it is also with limited distractions and conducted within groups.

Technology has improved in reading performance, teacher educational plans, online learning and development, and the classroom is no longer limited to a particular geographical locations. The use of software, programs, hardware’s and machinery is all used to achieve a particular task.

Technology is therefore one that has more positive effects than good at this moment in time since the goal of technology is to make education easier and more convenient for students, gearing them to be more interested and enthusiastic to learn more about the educations stand and course.

Other people believe that technology is what makes people more laid back and they get to react to it in a negative way as it is what makes people lazier and less active in actual physical exercise. Either way technology surely plays a vital role on getting things done.
